ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

The Academy of Silesia, formerly known as the School of Technology in Katowice (Wyższa Szkoła Techniczna w Katowicach), is a leading non-public higher education institution in the Silesian region, offering programs in technical, artistic, medical, and business fields. Its primary strength lies in the high quality of education, delivered by a qualified academic staff and experienced lecturers.

The university operates on the basis of the decision issued by the Minister of National Education and Sport on December 15, 2003. Pursuant to §1 section 1 of the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of March 6, 2007, on the procedure for maintaining the register of non-public universities and associations of non-public universities (Journal of Laws No. 52, item 348), the university is currently listed in the POL-on register under the number 286.

All study programs comply with the applicable regulations and educational standards, and have been approved by the Polish Accreditation Committee (Państwowa Komisja Akredytacyjna).

 

VISION AND MISSION

The Academy of Silesia serves as an international center for the development of professional competencies at the higher education level, particularly in the fields of art, medical and health sciences, engineering and technical sciences, as well as social sciences. It is also a recognized and experienced partner in scientific research and implementation activities supporting sustainable socio-economic development.

The university’s mission is to comprehensively prepare students for entering the job market through high-quality education and active involvement in research projects that address current social and economic needs. The Academy continuously expands its offer of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional training programs, aligning with modern educational trends and the evolving expectations of the labor market.

In addition, the Academy has been granted the right to conduct procedures for awarding the academic degrees of Doctor (PhD) and Habilitated Doctor (DSc) in selected disciplines, thereby supporting the academic and professional development of its graduates and academic staff.

Graduates of the Academy are equipped to function competently, consciously, and dynamically in a globally connected world shaped by international collaboration and ever-evolving technologies. With the skills they acquire and their openness to cultural diversity, they are well-prepared to thrive in both local and global professional and social environments.
